INTRODUCTION (GNM)

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a 3.5-year diploma programme designed to prepare students for professional roles as clinical nurses, midwives, and community health workers. The course integrates classroom learning with extensive practical training and a mandatory clinical internship, enabling students to develop strong hands-on healthcare skills in accordance with Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC) standards.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 17 and 35 years of age at the time of admission.

Education

10+2 passing certificate from Arts or Science backgrounds with a minimum aggregate of 40-45% marks.

Medical Fitness

Candidates must be medically fit to perform nursing duties and are primarily female as per INC/PNRC norms.

Step by step Guide

Admission
Journey (GNM Nursing)

Admission to the General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) programme is conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC), the Indian Nursing Council (INC), and the Government of Punjab. Admissions are carried out through the centralized online counseling process conducted by PNRC.

Admission is subject to the latest notifications, eligibility criteria, counseling schedule, and regulations issued by the Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC), Indian Nursing Council (INC), and the Government of Punjab from time to time.
Online Registration
Eligible candidates must register online through the official PNRC admission portal within the prescribed schedule.
Application Submission
Candidates must complete the online application form, upload the required documents, and pay the prescribed counseling fee.
Merit List
PNRC prepares the merit list based on the prescribed eligibility criteria, qualifying examination marks, and reservation policy.
Online Counseling
Eligible candidates participate in centralized online counseling, where they select their preferred ANM training institutions based on merit and seat availability.
Seat Allotment
Seats are allotted according to merit, reservation policy, candidate preferences, and the availability of seats in recognized nursing institutions.
Document Verification & Fee Submission
Candidates allotted a seat must report to the allotted institution for verification of original documents and payment of the prescribed fee to confirm admission.

Fee Structure

The fee structure for all nursing programmes is prescribed in accordance with the guidelines of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, the Government of Punjab, and other regulatory authorities. The tuition fee and other applicable charges are subject to revision from time to time as notified by the competent authorities.

The examination system follows the Indian Nursing Council (INC) Competency-Based Curriculum, implemented by BFUHS (for B.Sc, Post Basic B.Sc, M.Sc Nursing) and PNRC (for GNM & ANM).
